Just imagine you go to pee and accidentally get yourself into a half marathon in which you place seventh. That is what happened to the star of our story Ludivine a two and a half year old Bloodhound.
Escape from the garden
On the weekend owner April Hamlin from Alabama did what she does every day, several times a day. She let her dog out into the back garden to pee. But without her realizing instead of sticking to the back garden Ludivine decided it was time to go for a wander. She likes to explore the town and her surroundings and so took herself off for a walk. She reached the starting line of the race and headed off with the rest of the runners.
Ludivine runs a half marathon
The active Bloodhound ran the 13.1 mile run in a time of 1 hour and 32 minutes. However fellow runners admit the dog got easily distracted along the way, sniffing things out and splashing through streams. There was also a very interesting and stinky dead rabbit to investigate two miles in! Fourth place fellow runner Jim Clemens says, ‘Every time I thought she had dropped off to go back home, I would hear her coming back up to me, and she would race past me up to the two leaders.’
Stunned owner discovers what her dog has been up to
Meanwhile April found out when she started to receive pictures of her dog on her adventure! She said at first she was worried her dog had gotten in the way but also surprisingly said ‘I can’t believe she ran the whole half marathon because she’s actually really lazy!’ Sounds like Ludivine could have won that thing if it hadn’t been for that rascally rabbit, maybe she is not so lazy after all!
